JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:     School Administration Manager

Reporting to:   Chair of Council of Management

Reporting to this Position: Non-teaching staff including secretarial and administrative staff, bursar, caretaker and handy-man

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for managing the non-teaching operations of the school to include:-

Administration and Maintenance

Management of school’s administration team and administration processes including:-

  • Management of non-teaching staff to include appraisal, objective setting, personal development and where necessary informal discipline and grievance
  • School communications e.g. website, advertising, newsletters
  • Co-ordination of admissions process
  • Provision of school supplies, services, cleaning, maintenance and security of the school buildings and grounds

Compliance

Act as nominated Health and Safety Officer with responsibility for implementation of the Health and Safety Policy and Procedure and compliance with legislative requirements

  • Liaison with external parties associated with legislative requirements such as Care Commission, Disclosure Scotland, Aberdeen Council, Health and Safety Executive etc
  • Review and development of school’s policies and procedures
  • School registration including liaison with Companies House and Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR)

Human Resource Management

  • Management of statutory personnel requirements for all staff including recruitment, induction, absence management, formal stages of discipline and grievance procedures
  • Provide support to Head of College with regard to line management of teaching staff

Finance and Development

  • Preparation of annual budget and fees review and monthly financial reports to Council
  • Management  of the Bursar’s activities including preparation of annual accounts, Fee and debt collection, payroll, payment of invoices, cash flow management
  • Contribution towards development of the Council of Management’s  Five Year Plan

 ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Well organised and efficient with strong bias for action
  • Ability to communicate and deal with people in a consistent and straightforward manner
  • Background in administrative, finance and/or human resource management
  • Working knowledge of employment procedures and/or financial reporting
  • Ability/experience in writing management procedures
  • Experience of working in a supervisory or management position

 

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience of working in an educational environment

Temporary Cover Class 1 Teacher

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Class Teacher to take a Class 1 on a temporary cover basis, starting immediately.  We need a committed individual who is able and willing to embrace the delights and challenges of a Class One.  Steiner-Waldorf training is a pre-requisite and experience a valuable extra.
