The Parent and Toddler Group meets regularly during term time catering for parents with children up to three years old in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The morning starts with a time for free play and crafts and there is also an opportunity for parents to share experiences and offer mutual support. We provide a snack for both parents and children and end with songs and rhymes.

Our Parent and Toddler group is suitable for children from birth to 3 years.  The sessions are on Mondays,Tuesdays & Wednesdays from 9.20 – 11.20 am during term-time. We welcome parents, grandparents or carers into our friendly, peaceful atmosphere where children can play safely and creatively.  The friendly atmosphere makes it an ideal setting to share the joys and trials of parenting!  We are now meeting in a beautifully decorated room in the Lower School Building, overlooking the garden.  Make your way down the ramp or stairs from the car park and go around to the back of the Lower School Building where you can enter the building beside the Parent & Toddler Room.   If you are unsure where to go, pop into the School Office and they will help you!

We have a small collection of books on parenting and crafts which parents are welcome to borrow.

At our Parent and Toddler Group, the Steiner Waldorf approach to early childhood is experienced. We use play materials from the natural world as well as wooden toys and simple equipment.  This fosters the young child’s developing senses, allowing their imagination to unfold freely.

While the children play, parents can work with their hands, creating playthings and seasonal crafts.  We also make fresh, organic bread together which we enjoy at snack time.  We provide a snack for the children and for the adults.   After our shared snack time, we tidy up together and end the day with a circle time of rhymes and songs, finishing off with our “goodbye song” and establishing a rhythm that continues into Kindergarten.
